I'm into the final age and often don't even remember ever getting attacked once. Sometimes I see the AI forget to seed its farms when playing Dravidians, but in another game I see it doing it properly.Pretty much I rarely see the enemy ever attack me.

However, it isn't a civilization specific thing. Fallback options are why modded civilizations in theory do not need the modder to make a new AI, although after seeing the CD AI not seed its farms, I'm not convinced this is true. Camels and ships (!) oddly behave like knights, although ships not recognized by the AI at least knows it travels on water. Unknown archers units that are not skirmishers behave like archers. So for example the AI might not know what it did when it produced "Urumi Swordsman" it just knows that it spent money at a castle and have something classified as an infantry and unique unit, which the CD AI defaults to the teutonic knight behavior, or something classified as a infantry but not a unique unit defaults to a champion behavior. The AI should never end up in this state, but as long as it can make villigers, seed farms, chop wood, sell food at the market, and produce military units, it supposedly was able to always be in a state of doing something. That's strange, I read when they made the HD version they said the old CD AI and the "new improved AI" (the one they made for HD version, but ti was new at that time the article was) both had a "generic" fallback option that treated all civilizations the same and should work even if parts of the tech tree were missing. Originally posted by Chipper Monk:Sometimes the old AI can get buggy on new maps, or if it’s using new DLC civilizations. At the momment however, I just want to skirmish against the older AI versions and maybe play around with a scenario editor.

Maybe I might play some games with my friends like 3 humans plus 1 AI vs 3 humans, Maybe I might play a proper 1 vs 1 online someday. I'm not interested in ranked yet or getting kicked by the new AI, I just spent money to scratch my nostalgia. So far I have now seen the AI forget to reseed its farms in 7 out of 22 games, although interestingly on Arabia it always remembers. In games where the AI forgets to reseed its farms, it never attacks.

However on moderate and hard, the AI is passive, only attacking me about 75% of the games it remembers to reseed its farms. One of my trails on extreme I did win, but the CD AI forgot to reseed its farms, I never win when the AI does remember.

On the steam version if I switch to "extreme" (which I can't beat even if I use a cheat to give myself 1000 stone), or "hardest" (which I can beat the CD AI in a fair fight 1 vs 1, but not the HD or DE AI, and I seem to lose free for alls). In the steam version, the AI has been very passive. II tried it on moderate and hard both on the steam and the CD version. I’ll admit though, I didn’t really give it a chance to build up. Originally posted by Chipper Monk:Did you try it on Extreme difficulty? I played one with the CD Version on Arabia, and while it wasn’t super aggressive, it did attack me once. I just want a skirmish with an AI behaving like the CD or HD AI versions. In desperation I tried to switch the personality to standard, but while I got some responce, it is still dumb and nowhere near its skirmish level AI. Setting the personality to either the CD or HD AI does not seem to work and while the AI is capable of limited resource gathering and unit movement, it won't attack my town. I tried to make some games sort of play like skirmish, but with a few extra buildings. So why it is that in the steam version, the AI set to anything but DE seems to be passive and sometimes even forget its farms?Īlso, I'm having problems with the scenario editor. I couldn't find "standard" to test and I couldn't find the hideout map, but I did test on Arabia, Black Forest, and Mediterranean. It is able to attack on moderate and hard. being Franks without Halbadiers is fun) and out of 31 games, the AI always was able to reseed its farms and attack me without me using the hardest setting. However, even the CD AI was capable of reseeding its farms and attacking the player. The gate bug is probably the most famous one. Furtheremore in 3 out of the 10 hideout games, the AI straight up forgot to reseed their farms! Under the "moderate" and "hard" settings, the AI just doesn't attack me before the 90 minute mark. However, the map "hideout" seems to confuse the AI. I played free for all against a mix or CD and HD AIs. I played a bit of Skirmish against the AI and noticed something.
