While this limits your field of view, the combat feels more visceral and realistic. In Mordhau you play in a more personal perspective, looking out from behind the helmet of your soldier. This gives the player more situational awareness, which helps the player deal with enemies that sneak up on dueling combatants. When playing For Honor, your view will be the broad backside of your tough fighter as he approaches the battlefield and dances around the opponent. This can have a huge impact on the gameplay.

The most obvious difference is the fact that Mordhau is first-person, while For Honor is third-person. Mordhau features detailed models just waiting to be dismembered. While each game is focused on melee combat with medieval themes, they are only similar on the surface. Mount and Blade did the same in third person.īoth Mordhau and For Honor seems to be the logical next step in the evolution of this niche. Dark Messiah: Might and Magic managed to create an first person game with a deep (at the time) melee combat system with kicks and combos. (If It wasn't obvious I prefer mordhau I have 1.Games based on melee combat have been around for a long time, but there are some games which influence the genre more than others. But if you are willing to invest a lot of time (300+hrs from my experience) or are very good at these type of games like a few people I know get mordhau its more rewarding.
#Chivalry 2 vs mordhau how to#
This being said I would say if you're brand new or not very good at games it will probably be more enjoyable learning how to play the game in chiv 2 as it will cause less infuriating moments. Mordhau competitive community however was very toxic and responsible for ddosing servers, luckily that's nearly gone as the competitive scene is all but dead. I do know Mordhaus it has some toxic players but I would definitely say the majority of mordhau (Europe invasion/frontline) players aren't toxic and we have a very fun community, I've made friends through mordhau always fun seeing them in game. As for community I don't know chiv 2s very well so I can't give an accurate opinion on it. The player counts for both these games are about the same with last month chiv 2 had like 12% more avg players (1400-1600) *edit-on steam chiv 2 has crossplay and epic*. Where as for chiv its easier for beginners and doesn't have a skill celling as high as mordhau making it more beginner friendly. It allows for so much more then what's possible in chiv 2, which can be a bad thing for most new players as it does require a decent time sink in learning how to play leading to a lot of growing pains. There use to be parkour servers that I found so fun back when mordhau was bigger in like 2020/1. However from a mechanical stand point I love just how freeing mordhau is in its freedom of movement. From what I know chiv 2 does great in these aspects and really does have a good listening dev team.
#Chivalry 2 vs mordhau mods#
I know mods that give a lot of really good and easy to implement feedback to the devs which gets totally ignored. Mordhau has some beautiful maps but terrible objective design. I bought chiv 2 day of release but I couldn't get passed how restricting the game is. I was very bad at the game for my first like 300 hours but played with friends and it was very fun. I never played chiv 1 and mordhau was the first game I played of this genre. You can skip to the last paragraph if you don't want to read all this :). Play chivalry if you care more about having fun while improving and playing with a reasonably decent community. and don't care about an atrocious community. Play Mordhau if you want an intense more skill based/higher skill ceiling challenge where being good can make you feel like a god and being mediocre/average makes you completely useless. But you will also be rewarded for being genuinely good at the game. And you can play it casually too while having chat on. There's also the fact that you can't disable steam avatars so every time you die you are likely to see mutated pepe frogs or hentai lolli girls soaked with bodily fluids and the only community response to wanting an option to turn them off is "git gud lol" and "don't die then lol"Ĭhivalry is a nice mix of great and terrible people. Some of the worst people I've ever seen in a game. Chivalry 2 has absolutely none if it aside from matrix dodging which is very gimmicky and more of a showoff.

Mordhau has very slight similar mechanics to ballerinas although its nowhere near as annoying.
